Welcome

to the XX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work 2014: Global Forum for Prevention, in Frankfurt.

The German Social Accident Insurance is proud to be the national organizer of the 2014 World Congress. The 2014 World Congress is being organized jointly by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV).

Occupational safety and health has become a far-reaching task in our globalized world. People on all continents suffer under dangerous and unhealthy working conditions. Each year, well over 2 million people are killed in occupational accidents. Only by means of sustainable solutions we will be able to prevent occupational accidents, occupational diseases and work-related health hazards.

Discussion – debate – action: this is the focus of the 2014 World Congress. Over 4,000 experts from all over the world will be discussing the latest OSH developments and trends. Our hope is that each and every delegate will return home with new ideas and newly forged contacts. In addition, we offer you the opportunity to experience practical prevention activity on-site during visits to companies in a range of sectors, and to learn about new OSH products at the accompanying trade fair.

We have a vision: the Vision Zero. A world in which work is safe and healthy. A world without severe or fatal occupational accidents. We are devoting all our efforts to this vision. Only if we all act together, globally, however will we make progress towards this vision becoming reality. The 2014 World Congress provides an environment in which this is possible. We have chosen the financial and business metropolis of Frankfurt as the venue for the congress. We welcome you to the heart of both Germany and Europe. Frankfurt has many cultural and culinary attractions, and is known for its interesting sights.

We are fully committed to organizing the 2014 World Congress such that its success will be sustainable, and we look forward to your active participation.
